Paediatric Nurses

Paediatric nurses provide specialist health and medical care of infants, children, and adolescents from birth up to the age of 18. They work alongside paediatricians to test and monitor children with these disorders, and educate patients and parents on treatments and prevention methods, which may include lifestyle changes
The word “paediatrics” means “healer of children”; they are derived from two Greek words: (pais = child) and (iatros = doctor or healer).
Qualities required:
- Ability to support both parents and carers showing empathy, sensitivity and having excellent communication skills
- Assessing and observing conditions of patients
- Providing reports to doctors and other medical staff
- Preparing patients for operations and procedures
- Recording observations such as pulse, temperature and respiration rates
